CRUSHING YOU WITH STYLE

“(…)their UK debut, is oddly fantastic. Sounding like a quattro formaggio version of "Hello Nasty" with a Daft Punk Rocquefort stuffed crust and a Handsome Boy Modeling School side salad, the likes of "S, M, L, XL" and "Mrs Black's Husband" are big beat chilled-out and slowed down. Throw in a couple of radically reworked covers - "Dire Straits" is "Money For Nothing" given a titanic beat and put through Beck's dance blender and "Jennifer kissed Me" is De La Soul-lightful - and you've got the best dance album of the new century so far. A BIT LIKE" The second album BRA should have made." 4/5 stars

"Giant Robot hail from the obscurity of Finland and here they are Crushing You With Style their debut album. Appealing to fans of the Beastie Boys. DJ Shadow, Kraftwerk and Jurrasic 5 with their chilled strand of hip hop. These guys have created the remedy for everyone fed up angst rock,, bubble gum pop and assembly line dance. So sit down kick back and let someone else do the work for a change with this mellow debut from Giant Robot."

"Anything coming out of Finland is bound to be weird but Giant Robot are a pleasant surprise. Everything from electro, funk, hip hop and reggae combine for some damn fine party music. Think Lee Perry jamming with the Beasties while DJ Shadow mixes it and you'll get a handle on these guys style. Gigantic, future funk bros."
CHEESE? (UK), july-august, 2000

”(…) This band has nothing to do with angst-rock poseurs, depressive whining or the disgusting must-have-fun-if-it-kills-me-vibe of assembly line dance music. Giant Robot takes it easy and does things its own way. (…) In the year of our lord 2000, Giant Robot is a cohesive whole and ready for anything. What this anything turns out to be remains to be seen. We’ll see a lot of travel, performances, interviews and a lot of great songs for us, the fans. Songs to soothe the soul. Spread the word: Giant Robot is one of the most interesting things this new decade has going for it. That’s a fact.” http://www.jazzine.com/cds/index.phtml?start=8&end=11

”(…) Giant Robot are a fresh and funky collective, hailing from Finland's capital city, and their debut 'Crushing You Wit Style' does exactly what the title promises. You see, this is no mere run-of-the-mill rapping record, but a cool and suave collection of 17 laid-back and funky tunes. (…)”

“(…) Crushing You With Style displays a Beasties-style love of quirkiness, and the same 'melting pot' attitude. Drum & bass, hip hop and electro-pop are mashed together, passed through a Finnish filter and out pops an excellent if eccentric album. All this is epitomised on the entertaining 'Helsinki Rock City', which manages to sound like The Thompson Twins, James Brown and Cypress Hill at the same time. Honest"
